I feel young today.

Because some street surveyor outside JP asked me whether I was just shopping at JP or whether I was a student at NTU.

Well, at least he thought I might be a student and didn't say something like 'are you just shopping at JP or do you work here?'

Yes, this is a good sign. Despite the fact that he asked me the question in Mandarin. While I was wearing my headphones. -_-

Anyway, I was out when I spotted a bunch of kids with Von Dutch bags. Ubiquitous, you say. But I wonder how many people (in this country, at least) know who or what on earth is Von Dutch? Or Abercrombie & Fitch, for that matter?

FYI, Von Dutch a.k.a Kenny Howard was a motorcycle mechanic, eccentric, artist, pinstriper, metal fabricator, knifemaker, and gunsmith.

And, did you know ...

... that A&F was originally an 'elite sporting goods retailer' for many decades since it opened in 1892?

... their clientele consisted of mostly 'big-game hunters, fishermen, and outdoorsmen'?

... A & F not only outfitted wealthy people, it also outfitted some of America's most influential leaders and celebrities on their excursions?

... author Ernest Hemingway is said to have bought the gun he used to commit suicide at Abercrombie & Fitch?

Haha. I like the last one. But really, I think it's mostly a commercial move that (eventually) made A & F turn to selling 'casual luxury' apparel to the younger demographics (kids 7-14 and college students 18-24). A pretty darn successful business move, if you ask me.

Read for yourself here and here.

I love wikipedia. Seriously, I spend hours just trawling through the entries, going from link to link, reading and learning about stuff I never knew about before. Intriguing! Entertaining! Did I mention that I love wikipedia?
